It’s not gonna happen. Liberals and NDP snipe at each other when they should be attacking Conservatives. Even bloggers go at each other. Neither party has any worthwhile PR infrastructure in place to counter the pervasive right wing media and superior Con messaging.
Liberals will be accused of being in bed with socialists. Dippers will be accused of selling out its core principles. (I won’t even mention Adscam and Quebec.) Besides, why would the suddenly hot NDP even think about wedding with the sinking, clueless Libs?
While this is all going on, Con attack ads during hockey games and US football games will steal the spotlight not just from the Liberals this time but both the NDP and the Grits together. Neither party – or the imaginary ‘merged’ one – would have a response. Forget it. It’s a dead issue.
