No, Canadians are less tolerant under Stephen Harper.
Of course this Vancouver Sun article’s headline doesn’t tell the whole story. The piece concentrates solely on prejudice against Muslims. It doesn’t mention intolerance towards Catholics, Jews, progressives, gays or women. That says a whole lot about the newspaper and what it is afraid to broadcast. It feels it prudent to mention its true intentions only within the wraps of the story, not in the headline.
Reminds one of the use of the term ‘Islamicism’ by Stephen Harper. It is a cowardly but shrewd use of the term, hiding the true intent of the Conservative view of Muslims. You might say a handy misdirection in a brazen attempt to hide Harper’s savage intolerance towards those who he feels may impede his march to end times on the holy ground of Israel.
