On reflection, maybe I ought to cut you a little slack. Maybe you really are committed to fixing the organizational and occupational culture.
Maybe you really do want to fix the bridges between the police and the community they’re sworn to serve and protect.
Maybe I really should take your words at face value when you say things like this:
So you want to earn our trust and respect? OK then.
I see, so we’re supposed to look for daily actions and not just nice words. How about arresting the two assholes who kicked Adam Nobody in the face after he was handcuffed?
And then the next day, since we’re supposed to be looking for daily actions, maybe you could charge the cowardly sacks of shit who beat the crap out of Lacy MacAuley?
And then the day after that, maybe you could lay charges against the sadistic pigs who got their jollies kicking Sean Salvati around in the interrogation room and then parading him around naked, in front of a female cop? For starters?
That’s three days’ worth of ways you could show us that you’re not just blowing smoke up our asses. Admittedly, you might be stuck after that, because we all know incidents like this are isolated and confined, and the work of just a few bad apples. It’s not as if shit like this happens every day to people who aren’t white, educated and articulate.
It’s not like you don’t know who they are, or like you’d have any trouble finding them, right? After all, Mike McCormack says there’s no such thing as the Blue Wall. Right, Tim?
What’s that, Tim? The system’s working, you say? That’s a relief. So now that charges have been laid against Babak Andalib-Goortani and Glenn Weddell, everything that went wrong at the G20’s been taken care of? Is that what you’re saying?
No, I don’t believe it. That would just kneecap everything you’re saying about earning back our trust and respect.
