Canada is becoming known as the country where the police are the new cowboys of the wild west. They have no punishments. Citizens have no recourse save civil suits. Today’s Canadian version of police can openly intimidate. Hell, they can beat and sexually abuse young girls and get away with it. Video evidence be damned.
The investigating units supposed to be monitoring and punishing wayward cops is a corrupt body tainted by self interest and lack of oversight. The G20 plunder of innocent citizens and Bill Blair’s subsequent fuck you to Canada is a signal to the policing community that there are no laws when it comes to them.
It’s the wild west borne of Stephen Harper’s authoritarian power grab. If a taser happens to be in a cop’s hands and a dead man is at his feet – no problem! He’s the police and he’s above the law. It’s a sure sign of a crumbling society when the citizen fears not the criminal but the cop. While Canada is still far from that fate, it’s getting a lot worse.
