Drinking and Driving changes

BC unveiled changes to drinking and driving laws and they seem like the right thing to do. They change the acceptable blood-alcohol content to .05% from .08%. This means to most average people, one drink makes you legally impaired from the perspective of this change.

What’s wrong with this is that the change is that pub and restaurant operators risk losing business because of the threat of losing their car after one beer with their burger platter.

While I’d never support anyone drinking and driving, I think that some support should be given to pubs and restaurants to a degree. With all the HST that the province will be collecting from burgers and beer, I think they can provide some sort of voucher/discount system for pubs to call you a taxi if you feel unable to drive home.
