Catch 22 candidate recommendations to date…

Earlier this week, Catch 22 launched the candidate discussion and recommendation process in 25 online riding groups for ridings that are all held by Conservatives. There were varying levels of participation in the discussions.

The central team recommendations have been accepted by our local groups and we’ve added them to the six recommendations finalized last week. You can see the up to date list below.

These ridings are part of the more than 50 ridings where Catch 22 is recommending that people vote strategically and limit the Harper Conservatives to as few seats as possible.

There are still eight ridings in which we have not yet opened up the discussion. We intend to open discussion on three or four of them today, even though we feel — with the information we have at hand — that they are too close to call. Therefore, we will not make any candidate recommendation to the online groups in advance of their discussions.

If the discussion over the next two days can help point the way to a single candidate with the best chance to unite the anti-Harper votes, we will make a recommendation. If not, we will drop that riding from the list as it wades too closely into partisan territory. Our goal has always been to provide voters with clear recommendations with a reasonable chance for success.

The other four ridings we indentified as winnable by the opposition are in Quebec. We will make recommendations in at least three of them.

Once the last discussions wrap up on Sunday, we will release our list of 19 additional opposition held ridings that are vulnerable to a Conservative take-over. Early next week we will publish our complete Catch 22 voting guide with recommendations for anti-Harper “Super-Voters” in more than 50 ridings.
