The two had already passed a year of their sentence before the acquittal. Homosexuality is illegal in Cameroon, and is subject to harsh penalties.

Saskboy's Abandoned Stuff: 2012 in review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: 19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 96,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about

If today is LEM day, can I finally expect to not be voicedropped by six candidates a day? I mean, the movie voiceover guy is nice and everything, but I have a life, you know.

The federal government has called in the RCMP to investigate what could be one of the largest privacy lapses in Canadian history, after losing a non-encrypted external hard drive containing the personal information of 583,000 Canada Student Loan borrowers. The lost hard drive contained the personal information — including names,

Cadmus Delorme started off the speaking without a mic (and was audible!). Here he is with some amplification. Let’s amplify his message over the Internet, also. The noon hour finished up this way: It’s my third Round Dance of Idle No More. Here’s the second, on Albert St. Regina kicked

Running for leader when you have no chance to win is one thing, but attacking Trudeau’s family is another. For a campaign “of ideas,” Bertchi certainly has a lot of mud to sling. From his comments about how he “wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth, LIKE SOME

By Bob McDonald, Quirks & Quarks The end of the Kyoto Protocol, and our inability to do something about rising carbon emissions, is like arguing over rising water in the bilge of a boat, rather than fixing the leak. @JohnKleinRegina Thanks (blush)— Quirks & Quarks (@CBCQuirks) January 10, 2013
Continue readingOPSEU Diablogue: Canadians paying billions more for drugs without Pharmacare
UBC professor Steve Morgan has been writing a series of excellent BLOGs on Healthy Debate this month about the need for Pharmacare in Canada. As Morgan stated last November, our Medicare system stops the minute a doctor writes a prescription. While organized … Continue reading →
Continue readingSaskboy's Abandoned Stuff: Tarred and Feathered
It’s one of those “I told you so” findings, as the toxic fingerprint of tarsand oil production is found in distant lakes supposedly unaffected by the decades of strip mining. Well, the oil companies and their shills would have had people believe there was no effect, that is. Environmentalists were

There used to be a time when St. Elizabeth Health Care boasted of making Canada’s Top 50 employer list. They used to talk about how their happy staff didn’t need a union. How times change. The last time St. Elizabeth … Continue reading →

Imagine the embarrassment of being a teenager again, except now your source of torment is not limited to forced school interaction with ruthless bullies, but now occurs at home and around the WWW too. Sexual attitudes need to quickly change, and treatment of bullies needs to radically evolve if we’re
Continue readingLisaKirbie.com: Confused about Attawapiskat?
You’re not alone. We are being bombarded with mixed messages, a concerted effort to discredit Chief Spence and a big dose of bullshit, in some cases. If you are longing for facts, then I encourage you to read this. Some of what I’ve been reading lately reminds me of this

Two people today questioned my point that Canadian elections are growing unfair, and so produce questionable results. This lack of a clear, and legitimate winner of elections erodes peace and democracy. How do I know elections in Canada are moving in the direction of becoming unfair, and unable to produce

After rumours that the Ontario Liberal Party wouldn’t be allowing bloggers’ access to the upcoming leadership convention, I’m happy to hear this. I’m running to be a delegate – for Sandra, of course – in Beaches East York but if I don’t get elected, I’ll be applying to come as

In my last post, Ubuntu Phone, I talked about the concept for Ubuntu Phone that’s been floating around. Now, it seems the concept may be closer to reality. Take a look at this video: Ubuntu Phone OS Demonstration by Mark Shuttleworth at CES 2013. Looks very nice. The really compelling thing for

I get asked, often, what Sandra’s like – truthfully, she is exactly who she presents herself to be, which is sometimes a rarity in politics. Not only smart, savvy and charismatic, she’s also compassionate and kind. She always asks about my kids and in the next breath, after a warm
