They Just Don’t Get It

Last week it was revealed that Roshi Chadha, an asbestos exporter , sat on the board of the Canadian Red Cross, certainly someone an organistion like the Red Cross would be loathe to be associated with.Yet far from distancing themselves from Chadha and demanding her immediate resignation they instead supported her.

A Montrealer with ties to the asbestos industry has resigned abruptly from the governing body of the Canadian Red Cross after the humanitarian group rallied behind her as a “valued member” of its team.

They just don’t get it and likely never will because for the most part the who sit on the boards of organisations like the  Red Cross no longer reside in the same society as the rest of us. At least Peter Robinson of the David Suzuki Foundation had the class and morals to realise just how gawd awful the boards support of Ms Chadha truly was and resigned. Sadly with Robinson’s resignation the board likely lost the only sane voice it had.
