Wait a minute. Does this make Tim Hudak cool?

News Flash! Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak says he smoked dope in his youth. And, he inhaled! Mr. Hudak made the admission on Thursday in response to questions from reporters about his latest campaign pledge to get tough on crime. He said he would set up a registry of homes that are used as grow-ops and meth labs.

As for setting up a registry: 1.  That reminds me of an episode of “Breaking Bad”  where Jesse’s parents try to sell their home without disclosing that a meth lab used to operate in the basement, and 2.  Isn’t it usually the Progressive Conservative Party that advocates the privatization of land registries?  Now Tim Hudak, whose party has wanted to hawk the land registry office for a very long time, wants to expand land registry to include (in addition to history of title, land charges, easements, etc.) whether crimes have been committed on the premises?  What a shocking ideological reversal all in the name of being “tough on crime.”

And if Hudak is such a fan of registries aimed at preventing crime, as he he proposing this new home grow-up-cum-meth-lab-registry, what could his opinion possibly be for the long-gun registry, which the association of police chiefs supports unanimously?  What other things should exist on exhaustive government lists Mr. Hudak?  And should these lists be updated with accurate census data?

For anyone just joining us, Tim Hudak has just decided to flush his credentials as a libertarian conservative.  What kind of conservative is Mr. Hudak?  Apparently the kind that likes to keep giant lists encompassing everything.  There’s a word for that kind of leftism, but “conservative” isn’t it.
