They’ve been through quite a bit of organizational shite…

…some of it I witnessed pretty up close or heard about from people who were better situated to observe goings on behind closed doors. still…this is pretty fucking horrible. and they have been an institution in the city and a voice for many grassroots communities…

COMMUNITY ALERT: CKLN Needs Office Space & Extra Studio
Tuesday, 02 August 2011 00:07

CKLN has been informed by the Ryerson Student Centre (Palin Foundation) that we have until August 27th to vacate its studios and leave the Ryerson campus. We are seeking alternative space from which to broadcast and urgently appeal to the community and voluntary sector to come forward with offers of space-sharing. While we have studio space to accomodate most of our programmers we are still in need of office space and are seeking office sharing options for administrative purposes and secondary studio space.

Toronto’s oldest campus-community radio station, which formerly broadcast on 88.1 FM for almost 30 years, is now reinventing itself as an internet radio entity. CKLN is home to some of the city’s most diverse music and spoken word programming and has helped launch the careers of a number of prominent artists and media personalities. We are the voice of the voiceless, providing coverage for numerous community and equity-seeking groups that are usually denied mainstream media attention.

We require a small room or corner of a shared room for office space. We are also seeking a small to medium sized room for use a backup studio. We would prefer to be in or around the Parliament Street area, however any reasonable space that is close to a subway or streetcar line will be considered.

In exchange, we can offer podcasting and other media services including training to any organization that has space available to share.

If you are able to help us with either or both of these space requirements please contact: stationmanager@ckln.fm or board@ckln.fm
