Just in case anyone in Ottawa is busy drafting a new message…

“I told you so” doesn’t seem to be polling well.  Just saying.

Even if voters believed, correctly, that an increase in support for the NDP favours a Conservative majority, they don’t seem to be kicking themselves about it.  This may be the result of a phenomenon taught in first year Psych, that it is easier to change an opinion than an action.  Having voted in the blue majority, it is unsurprising Canadians are not of the opinion that they are wrong.

Having warned the electorate countless times about the likely outcome of a divided vote between the LPC and the NDP, we cannot fall into the trap of referring to the truthfulness of all our past statements, no matter how right we were.  It’s like Dale Carnegie said, people are selfish and they absolutely hate being told they are wrong, especially when they are wrong.  The rule that you can never win an argument is only more profound when you consider the argument is with an entire country of people who mostly just voted against you.

Now, having said all that, Canada, we told you so.  Hope you’re enjoying the Harper years.
