The Green Party is getting great publicity from their exclusion from the televised debate. They should have been ready to turn that into something electorally significant, instead of simply crowing over a bunch of free publicity. Here is how they can really benefit from this almost an election issue.

Catch 22 endorses Elizabeth May, Green Party, SGI
What an exciting day! The Catch 22 Campaign’s first ever online endorsement process wrapped up a couple of hours ago. Based on the best available research, the Catch 22 team recommended to our supporters in Saanich-Gulf Islands (SGI) that our campaign support Green Party candidate (and leader), Elizabeth May as the candidate best positioned to defeat incumbent Conservative Gary Lunn. We used our online group to…

Elizabeth May is hosting a joint news conference with Linda Keen, the Nuclear watchdog dismissed by the Conservatives for watching. Might be interesting, might actually be worthy of news coverage
Continue readingPample the Moose: Debates, Debates, Let’s Have More Debates!
Most of my current students are too young to remember the now infamous election debate clashes between Brian Mulroney and John Turner. So I like to show them the Free Trade Clash from 1988 or the patronage kerfuffle of 1984. Both debates were widely …
Continue readingNEW MEDIA AND POLITICS CANADA: DAY SIX: Ignamentum!
Okay, so I’ve coined a silly word and am probably jumping the gun on this. Michael Ignatieff has only a smidgen of momentum but it’s a good start for a guy who has been unable to get any for almost three years now. According to pollster Nik Nanos, Igg…
Continue readingMadLibMadLib: Democracy Debated? Or Democracy Debased?
So the boys have thrown down. The Conservative Leader, Mr. Harper, issued the challenge this morning to Mr. Ignatieff, the Liberal Leader, that they should have a one-on-one debate between the two candidates who, at least in the words of John Baird, are the only men running to become Prime

With five parties vying for Canadians votes — the Bloc of course restricted to the province of Quebec where they will likely to retain or at least be in contention for approximately one sixth of the seats available in Canada — there are a lot of nar…

I have had my heart set on going to the polls since last year when Harper, our Evangelical Christian PM, reverted to form once again and started cramming his beliefs into Canadian policy. For me it began when he and his party decided to deny fund…

Fellow DemReform blogger CuriosityCat has a great post today on a little tidbit that passed the lips of Jack Layton: “The way to stop Stephen Harper from getting a majority is to take Conservative seats one by one, and defeat the MPs who are there. That’s how you stop Mr. Harper from getting a majority,” I […]

The Green Party of Canada is releasing policy proposals throughout this election under the heading of “Finding Common Ground”. These are policy ideas which ALL parties should be able to agree are in the best interest of Canadians. http://greenparty.ca/media-release/2011-03-28/common-ground-employment-and-education-youth

Check out the video lol With the results of November 29th, 2010 by-elections, a few observations can be made: One: No one gives a shit! Voter Turnout was in the twenty to thirty percent range. Two: The Green Party is still afloat, but sinking fast, after almost being beaten by

I sent the following e-mail (in italics) to Elizabeth May on, or around, November 27, 2008–two years ago. I had been heavily involved in the Greens for two years and knew what needed to be done. While her manipulative supporters said I should shut up and “Stop hurting the party”,

Elizabeth May’s cartoon double (that looks like Sarah Palin) was on my blog show tonight answering questions about the Green Party of Canada and her leadership. This is my first video effort and I’m only using the free online version of the software. It has limitations. Enjoy the video. Booya!

Why is there both a New Democratic Party (NDP) and a Green Party? Examine them, really read their positions and philosophies. The two parties are essentially the same and where they’re not, they’re frequently complementary. In the following, I’ll present why I think the two parties must merge and what

Could you just imagine a headline like that? Only if you accept the fact that the federal Liberal party is finished as a viable political entity. It was this particular realization, coupled with Warren Kinsella’s post earlier today, that got me thinkin…

Though my attention is tuned to our federal election, this post doesn’t continue the IP political issues I wrote detailing a stance against certain sorts of “intellectual property” regulation (NDP seems to address it best, though Dion provided a reasonable response to my letter). I’ll go on a tangent today:
