In emails between a Barbara Motzney – a staffer at Public Safety Ottawa – and Patrick C. Gagnon – a member of The Parliamentary Group, and a lobbyist for GEO Group Inc. – there is clearly a push by that company to establish itself in Canada. So what? Well, that has implications, as detailed in my last post.

Of course, profit is an important factor for them. And, of course, the new (intentional) developments from the Conservatives have sparked GEO Group Inc.’s interest. How close these two parties are working is something we can only speculate, but this is clear cause and effect. Increase punishment for crimes, increase incarceration, increase prisons, pique interest in profit for private companies.
