Yes, boys ‘n’ girls, with every fetus fetish bill Rethuglicans, with the help of some ‘friendly’ Democrats, they pass or attempt to pass in a feverish attempt to circumvent Roe v Wade, it just never seems enough for them, nor for their fetus fetish lobbyists. The Rethuglican dominated House of Representatives just passed what is probably the most hideous bill to date.
Today the GOP-led House of Representatives, with the blessings and encouragement of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops and extremist religious groups such as the Family Research Council, passed a bill in a vote of 251 to 172 that would, among other things, allow doctors and hospitals to “exercise their conscience” by letting pregnant women facing emergency medical conditions die.
Yes. Die.
This is what the Republicans called the “Protect Life Act.” And no, I am not kidding.
Well, ain’t that peachy? ”Protect Life Act”. How does this square with allowing living, breathing women to die? Oops! Silly me! Women’s lives don’t matter in the world according to fetus fetishhood. I knew there was a reason why I hated the term “pro-life” to describe those who are anti-choice. “Pro-Life” is just too inaccurate and this bill is a clear example of that.
Also, should this bill go any further and see the light of day, it will surely bring American women back to those dark days before Roe v Wade, when often unqualified swindlers would set up shop in clandestine back alley flop houses, if there are no doctors willing to perform abortions or clinic and hospital administrators allowing them to be performed in their establishments.
Oh, and folks, this bill apparently takes a swipe at preventative measures like birth control, as well.
H.R. 358 contains other provisions revealing complete disregard for women’s health and lives. It permits states to enact sweeping refusal laws that would allow health plans to refuse to cover women’s preventive services, including birth control, without cost-sharing — undoing a new protection under health reform supported by 66 percent of Americans.
Don’t these fools realize that making preventative measures like birth control more accessable could possibly reduce abortions? But then, most of these religious activists do take “Be Fruitful and multiply” literally.
What’s worse is that those fools didn’t seem to bat an eye-lash when Rep Jackie Speier (D-California) told her own story of needing a life saving abortion and said that if she had to travel hospital to hospital until finding one who would perform the life saving procedure, she may not be alive today.
Remember Rep Virginie Foxx from North-Carolina? The she-misogynist who should not be out past her before dark beddy-byes? She appeared to be the least moved of all.Perhaps she even regretted the fact Rep Speier survived, as do many of her colleagues, no doubt. Well, I think she just beat her own record of insane, in responding to Rep Jackie Speier.
For my colleagues across the aisle who say that this is a misogynist bill, nobody has ever fought more for the rights of women than I have. Fifty percent of the unborn babies that are being aborted are females. So the misogyny comes from those that promote the killing of unborn babies. That’s where the misogyny comes in, Madame Speaker.

I would like to know how she knows that 50% of the fetuses aborted would’ve been female? I mean, most abortions are done inside the first trimester, when the sex of the fetus can’t even be determined! Does ol’ Virginie have a crystal ball?

But her claim that “nobody has ever fought more for the rights than I have” throws facts straight out the window. As Raw Story notes, Foxx voted against women’s health bills at least nine times in her congressional career, including a vote against funding for Planned Parenthood — an organization with the chief purpose of providing cancer screenings and sexually transmitted disease tests and treatment to low-income women. Along with lowering costs and free preventive care, the health care law also prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage women “due to pre-existing conditions, such as cancer and having been pregnant.” Foxx, however, believes such health reforms pose a greater danger than “any terrorist.”

Ironically, this bill would mean that only the wealthiest would be able to access safe abortions when in reality, it is generally the least wealthy and most disenfranchised who tend to require abortions most. But, I’m sure they’ll tackle that one next.
It’s all these bills some US lawmakers are feverishly trying to pass. This one does take the cake, but when you put them all together, the message is loud and clear. To them, women should be nothing more than incubators who should not be seen nor heard. Unless, of course, they age into a self- hating, tea-bagging nutbar like Virinie Foxx or Michele Bachman.
The bill is not likely to get past the senate and even if it does, it looks like President Obama will veto. However, I never got the feeling that Obama was that staunchly pro-choice. In fact, from what I’ve read, I always got the feeling that he was luke warm to the pro-choice cause at best. As Dr Dawg suggests, “a huge campaign to apply pressure will be necessary”. After all, no doubt the fetus fetish crew will also be lobbying and lobbying hard, using their dirty tricks to make sure this bill does see the light of day.
It is important to pay attention to what’s happening south of the border because we have our own fetus fetish MPs like Bratty Brad who are no doubt starting their private members’ bill engines, as we speak. I’m sure fools like Bratty Brad, Revvin’ Rev Vellacott and of course, Dean of Gastro are looking south of the border for ideas.
