In one of the most eloquent posts on how the US media functions, David Kurtz at Talking Points Memo writes that Obama needs to declare victory now in the debate on taxes. He’s right. Stephen Harper declares victory at every step and the media dutifully parrots the propaganda. Witness the “Harper Government”. How about, “The Conservative party, which is Canada’s party”? And who can ever forget that criticizing Israel is anti-Semitism?
The media goes right along. Say something as if you’ve won something and in politics it becomes reality. Obama needs to begin talking like he’s winning. After all, it worked for Charlie Sheen.
