Last night CBC was interviewing a 69 year old woman in Montreal who had joined the students protesting the Quebec tuition hikes. She said she had protested the Vietnam war and she wanted to show solidarity with young people who were willing to stand up and be heard. The reporter noted that the protest had grown and was becoming more an “Occupy” movement protest with all kinds of different groups joining in. Recently I read a blog post that advocated occupying the Liberal Party. Push back is happening everywhere. Even in Alberta, land of the uncontested conservative movement. If you up in the 60s you might recognize the sleeping giant that conservatives like Stephen Harper had declared dead and gone, just now waking back up to say, “Hey, you’re not the boss of me.”
