Oh dear! Poor Timmy never learned to be a good sport, did he? Poor young Miller, what a poor example she has for a parent! Poor loser speeches from Cons is nothing new, but Timmy has gone beyond outrageous here:
Tory Leader Tim Hudak says the Liberal minority government is too Toronto centric at the expense of the rest of the province.
“It is not healthy for our province to have government that is overwhelmingly concentrated in the City of Toronto and its nearest suburbs,” an exhausted and somewhat chastened Hudak told a post election news conference Friday.
Hoo Ha! Stop the presses! The sky has fallen! It’s unhealthy! Timmy just said so! Why, before we know it, as Dr Dawg mentioned in his comments, ‘foreign workers’ will be cross dressing, and that’s not all, boys ‘n’ girls, when Timmy’s not looking, young girls will be brainwashed into thinking that they’re boys! All this because Toronto has voted in NDP and Liberal and not a Con to be found! Ooohh!! Shiver me timbers! Whatever will Mayor Boss Hogg and sidekick, doughnut Dougy do? Who will they play monster cars with now?
On a more serious note, upon reading the Toronto Star article I linked to above, Timmy Hudak keeps mentioning the opposition as though they were uniquely he and his party, which I find quite disturbing. Quotes like this:
“Dalton McGuinty will remain as premier as long as he retains the confidence of the Legislature and no longer. He should take note in particular that it will be awfully difficult for him to get a tax hike,” he said.
And
“My message for Dalton McGuinty is very clear. Dalton McGuinty is on a short leash and we will hold that leash tight.”
Hudak did note he expects the Liberals to try to woo some of his members over to the government side in order to give it a majority.
I’m left with one question. Is Timmy forgetting that the while he and his merry band of fools may form the official opposition, Andrea Horwath and the NDP do have 17 seats on the opposition benches as well? It sure seems like he’s not acknowledging their existence. Does Timmy realize that in order to defeat McGuinty’s minority, it would take all of the Con MPPs, as well as all of the NDP MPPs, plus the speaker to break the tie (assuming the speaker will be from one of the opposition parties)?
Another question, Timmy, if you’re so confident about your band of MPPs, why so paranoid?
Hudak did note he expects the Liberals to try to woo some of his members over to the government side in order to give it a majority.
Hudak said McGuinty has a reputation for doing “backroom deals.”
I may suggest that Timmy may be afraid that McGuinty may make a deal with the NDP and that is not outside the realm of possibility. After all, it would make good political sense for both parties, but after reading that article and reading the above, regarding “his” (Timmy’s) MPPs and such, he’s not even thinking about the NDP.
Now, unless Timmy has already consulted Andrea Horwath and she is squarely on board with Timmy’s domineering attitude, just being space filler, following along with whatever Timmy wants for whatever she thinks she may gain from it, May I suggest, Andrea, that you kind of either throw something at Timmy or wave something or make lots of noise to remind Timmy that you and your party are also sharing opposition benches and he won’t be able to do anything without help from every single one of your MPPs?
Let the games begin. This could, indeed prove interesting.
