Insite

One of the few benefits of not having any political power is that you get to sit back and watch the majority power fall all over its own ideology and arrogance.

Less than 40% of Canada voted for these guys. That’s not a mandate for anything other than doing what the Canadian people want you to do. The Cons haven’t learned this yet. They have been waiting so long for this moment, they are unable to harness their giddy approach to governance.

They better learn fast for their sakes. Their holy high roller spending on jets, limo rides, gold-plated calling cards and fake lakes will soon wake Canadians from their slumber.

Even the courts are no longer playing along with the impetuous baby Cons. While thecrestfallen Cons recover from a blow to their ideological opposition to the proven Insite program in Vancouver, the rest of us benefit from courts that rely on facts and laws to make their decisions.

Libby Davies, the New Democrat MP whose riding includes the Downtown Eastside where Insite is located, was delighted with the court ruling.

“Since it opened in 2003 in my riding, fatal overdoses have dropped by a third. More people get treatment as Insite is there to connect people with the services they need. Today the people who use this service have had their voices heard,” Ms. Davies told the House.

“The Supreme Court agrees, health professionals agree, international health experts agree,” she said. “Will the Conservatives admit their failed approach and acknowledge that Insite protects public health and saves lives? Will they stop being the barrier to this very important service?”

Remember folks, this decision was unanimous.

Of course this will all change as judges leave and Harper appoints hard right ones in their place. But even that has a silver lining. The more Canadians see what these brigands are up to, the faster will be the Conservatives’ fall from grace.
