"Tea party downgrade" on the Sunday news shows

I stopped watching the US Sunday morning news shows long ago. The guests and panellists have skewed mightily toward Republicans; right-wing talking points recited in unison across networks became too predictable and a little boring. Especially irritating is that Democrats – when they got to talk – have been defensive and rarely on point.

This past Sunday changes everything. The term ‘tea party downgrade’ was used by Democrats not once but three times. And on Meet the Press, Rachel Maddow was especially effective at bringing up S&P’s blaming of the Republican intransigence as the primary reason for the downgrade. Of course, this will not last. Democrats are not as message disciplined as the GOP. The left doesn’t have the on-air fire power to sustain the message. Pity.

Here’s videos of John Kerry, David Axelrod and John Dean making sure the ‘tea party downgrade’ message was front and centre on the Sunday shows. (Maddow vid to come, when available.)
