When I think of Canada being dominated by a Conservative media monopoly, I think of the UK. There’s a whole ball of right wing hate over there that makes our Sun Media/Postmedia/Macleans Conservative juggernaut seem tame. There is no shame nor ethics nor morality in the English press, save perhaps the Guardian. It’s all one heap of open-sores and conservative fear and loathing.
I learned firsthand how horrible, jealous and conniving these Brit flacks could be during the Vancouver Olympic games. That was child’s play. Then the Murdoch NOTW scandal happened. More child’s play.
The current headline from the Daily Mail and the story within are not based on facts or any attempt at balance and fairness. It is an elite attempt to pillory the youth. To present one side of a contentious argument. To pull the years of British class warfare around like a flak jacket against modern realities. It is a war waged not on the streets, as the youthful ‘thugs’ are doing, but to wage a war of propaganda like Pravda used to do so effectively. It is the mentality in which Breivik thrived.
The Daily Mail and most of the other British newspapers are indulging in payback and terrorism in their own way. It’s nothing less than war and it’s being waged against the poor and the oppressed. It has nothing to do with the frustrated souls and goons running through the streets doing damage. It has everything to do last gasp of a dying empire with an outdated class warfare as its last stand.
