That seems to the sentiment of Harper’s Conservatives. From US-style mandatory sentences and prisons to colonial British nomenclature for our military, one would every right to question how Canada sees itself in the age of Harper.
Will there be anything left to claim as our own if Harper continues his reign in the years to come? Can you imagine if Obama is defeated by one of the extremist GOP candidates vying for his job? Harper will have been proven prescient – we will not know this country anymore. He will move us so far to the right our history will dissolve into new text books written in Texas. Self-loathing will once again be our bane. Remember the pride we felt as Canadians during the Liberal run when the Economist thought we were the new cool thing. Hehe. Those heady but all too brief days my friend are long gone.
