As many Torontonians would know, today is the day City Council is having a meeting with constituents to discuss cutting ‘gravy’.  Poor long suffering Giorgio Mammoliti, he apparently is longing for his pillow and blanky.  He’s not a happy camper, to say the least.

When Fern Hill published the details over at Dammit Janet about today’s City council meeting, I had copied and pasted them to an email to both my mother and my brother who live in Ford Nation.  Now, I’m not sure that either of them will have made it today, as my brother has about three part time jobs and my mother, while retired, is quite busy looking after my father who isn’t well.  I certainly hope at least  one of them made it.

Then I read this piece of garbage from Mammoliti:

Mammoliti said Ford supporters haven’t turned out before because they’re busy working. He said he’ll listen to all the deputants but complained that many will be “the same people, the same faces, that are always down here. I think a lot of them are being paid to be here.”

Oh wow! First Mayor Boss Hogg shows contempt by (I’ll say alleged, but I’m pretty sure it happened) giving the middle finger salute to a woman, her young daughter and baby sitter while driving the baddest assed, gas guzzler, I’m sure he could find. Then, that piece of swill from his puppet.  They’re starting to show their true colours. When Fordzilla and Donut Dougy and his puppets speak of constituents, they mean only their supporters, but of course, we knew that.  We knew that since Don Cherry in his worst Liberace knock-off  went off on his schtick about elite pinko cyclists at Boss Hogg’s inauguration.

Uh, Mr. Mammoliti, if  my father is feeling up to it today and my folks,  or if my brother manages to get away from his work, rest assured that no one is paying them to show up at today’s meeting.  It’s called civic involvement. You do remember that don’t you?  They’re actually concerned about the draconian cuts the KPMG report is recommending. Now, I realize that things like libraries, children’s dental care and nutrition, crossing guards to ensure that children arrive at school safely, transport for the disabled and TTC night buses, public health and safety are considered ‘gravy’ to you, but many folks may take issue with that.  Ain’t democracy inconvenient?

No, Mr. Mammoliti, paying supporters to speak on your behalf seems to be more the modus operandi of the right.

AARRGGGHH!! The more I hear about Mayor Boss Hogg, Donut Dougy and his puppets, the more I appreciate our city hall and mayor, alleged corruption and all. Even our former right winged mayor, Pierre Bourque who went Merger  and condo happy  looked like a rampant Marxist and actually sane next to this gang of buffoons.  Remind me, boys ‘n’ girls, if I ever run into Mayor Gerald Tremblay,  to give him  a hug. Then again, maybe not.
