With the woefully-miscast version of ‘On the Road’ about to hit the big screen, I lament that the book took so long to be filmed. Especially this afternoon watching 1968’s “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter”. My god, Stacy Keach is Neal Cassady. Seriously, I think Keach was channelling Dean Moriarty in this portrayal. What a great movie. What an unheralded performance by Keach.
