It’s not often that malfunctions of a political mind are put so obviously on display. Well, expect for perhaps our dear friend, Hugh McFadyen.
OK, we all know that on May 2nd, 2011 Stephen Harper got his majority government. In large part, Sir Stephen was given his coveted majority because farmers in Western Canada voted Conservative.
So, given that the Conservatives have announced that the Canadian Wheat Board is toast. That means that a great many farmers are now, well fucked.
While there is certain part of me that takes some perverted form of schadenfreudeian induced revenge satisfaction from this situation; the adult in me recognizes that the death of the Canadian Wheat Board is not only severly damaging to the farm economy and Winnipeg’s economy – it is also anti-democratic.
The CWB is there for the producers, the farmers, so they should have the final say on it’s existence – not a cadre of MPs fed by special interests.
I recognize this as does the government of Manitoba. Which is why the Selinger the government is going to bat for the farmers.
Hugh McFadyen on the other hand. well, he see’s it pretty much like Harper. They gave us a Majority government so we will do whatever the hell we like.
Here’s Hugh’s chance to stand with the farmers of Manitoba, his rural brothers and sisters. Hugh’s chance to stand with Manitobans and the thousands of Manitobans that will lose their jobs because of the death of CWB.
And what does Hugh do.
Well, here it is in Hugh’s own words:
According to Hugh, the May 2nd, 2011 election gave Harper the right to do whatever the hell he pleases with our institutions.
Aside from providing a scary insight into the mind of Hugh McFadyen, ie: Hugh’s confession that to him a Majority equals the gift of absolute power – it is stunning when one considers that the decision to run BiPole III down the West-Side of Lake Winnipeg was part of the 2007 election here in Manitoba. The one were McFadyen lost seats to the NDP.
So to apply Hugh’s, “logic”, he should just shut-the-fuck-up about BiPole III and pretty much everything else he’s been yammering on about for the past several years, because, afterall, it was decided on election day in 2007.
But Hugh.
