How would you feel if this guy came running into your election voting station and said that the election you were holding was illegal? Meet Michael Sona – the infamous “students at U of G voting is illegal” guy. He’s the guy that tried to grab a ballot box. He’s the guy that tried to shut down student voting because..well…nobody is really sure why exactly. He’s not just some low level campaign lackey. Hell, he’s not just a “just a campaign guy.” He’s the executive assistant to Rob Moore. This is a guy who works on Parliament Hill full time for the Tories. Maybe he was just angry that all these darn students are making his great new salary raise look a little shaky.
Now, he came rushing in saying that he was apparently the new sheriff in town and he could just take the ballots away from the Returning Officer at the U of G. Well, Elections Canada has certified those votes as completely valid. I know Tories hate when youth vote (messes up their vote suppression programs from what I hear tell), but there’s just got to be a line. Committing criminal offences such as attempted theft and attempted theft of crown property just ain’t what I thought Canadian democracy was about. Oh, and did he touch anyone while he was there on his little freak out? Cause then that’s assault. Not to mention, is that gun registered….?Oh well, it’s not like this guy had any connection to Stephen Harper or anything…
