So I just spent an AMAZING ten days in Toronto. We had a Drug User Groups summit and we officially created the Canadian Association of People who Use Drugs (CAPUD). We wrote our mission statement etc. and got everything underway. The overarching goal of the group is to help co-ordinate the regional groups (ADDICQ in Montreal, VANDU, UNDUN, etc.).
The other thing that happened, was the girl I mentioned in the last post, Wendy — she and I are now an item! I know, you all think I’m crazy. Look what just happened in the last long-distance one from SSM right? I know. I know. But this girl is literally everything I could possibly hope to find! She’s an activist too, around sex worker rights. She created the Bad Date Coalition and has been distributing the Bad Date Book to agencies in Toronto for years. She’s going to law school to become a constitutional lawyer, to reform, in her words, child care, prisoner rights, and to constitutionally challenge sex work laws.
She’s absolutely amazing. And she says that she really likes me – for me! How amazing is that?
I spent 10 days in Toronto with her, and we had SUCH a blast! Toronto is such an amazing city. We checked out Queen Street West and East, Kensington Market, Chinatown, almost everywhere you can think of. I’m planning on moving there once I am done with all this court BS. We did take it a little fast but now that we have to spend some time apart we’re realizing how much we miss each other, I think. And I think it’ll be good. I promised her that I would go back down in 30 days (July 23rd) at the longest. My bail is done on July 15th so I might even go earlier!
Anyway, I’m real sorry (as always) that I haven’t been posting as much but it’s been so hectic! I might have to change this to Toronto from the Down Side Up (lol, yeah RIGHT).
Keep an eye out for more posts soon! I’m going to get back in the habit of posting, I swear!
