CBC News – World – Anger mounts over Greece’s austerity plan

This is unfair, yes…but necessary. Get used to it as well. Well meaning welfare state programs that are largely hold-overs from the end of the last world war are too generous to be supported by an aging taxpayer. If there is a lesson here, its that everyone should have their own backup plan and not rely on government or politicians to take care of you.

The tragic irony is that these cuts are inflicted by a left-wing coalition government that JUST took power in Greece. They had been governed by conservatives for the last dozen or so years. Not that it matters any, since the whole country had been living beyond its means for so long.

My heart goes out to the people of Greece, but if you work together to get through this, life will get easier on the other side of this crisis.
