Peace, order and good government, eh?: Friday night: RIP Bert Jansch

Scottish guitarist Bert Jansch passed away on Wednesday at the age of 67. Jansch was an influential acoustic guitarist who came to prominence in the sixties playing sophisticated arrangements of traditional Scottish and Irish music. He went on to a long career as both a performer and a songwriter. You may hear echoes of Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page in this first performance. Page is only one of the guitarists who was influenced by Jansch and was so influenced by him that at one point Jansch considered pursuing legal action for copyright infringement. In the end he thought better of it because the song itself is traditional and in the public domain. This is Black Waterside….
