Duceppe to CBC

Oh man, this is really going to piss off the right! LOFL! Stephen Tayor’s going to have to bring out the mops for all the cranial matter exploding over at Blogging Tories.

MONTREAL – Former Bloc Quebecois head Gilles Duceppe said he doesn’t think there is anything controversial about an ex-soveregnist leader working at . . . → Read More: Duceppe to CBC

Michael Coren: “It’s not about race. It’s about culture”. Bullshit.

Dawg posted a video tonight I wish I had never seen. No, not a clip from the latest slasher flick. Worse. Michael Coren, using the meme begun by disgraced ‘historian’ David Starkey that it’s ‘not racism, it’s culture’, went on a riot of his own on Fox News North with Brian Lilley gleefully cheering him on. His rampage . . . → Read More: Michael Coren: “It’s not about race. It’s about culture”. Bullshit.

Who knew Sun TV News was such a welfare queen?

Dan Gardner calls this an “indecently enjoyable read”. I wholeheartedly agree. Too bad there is not more reporting like this about Fox News North (it really is).

The summation (emphasis mine):

Oh, and remember the news about Conservative Transportation Minister Denis Lebel being a Bloc Québécois member? I asked the folks at the media monitoring service Infomart . . . → Read More: Who knew Sun TV News was such a welfare queen?

Michele “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann makes cover of Newsweek. Wingnuts not pleased.

Have to admit this week’s cover of Newsweek featuring a crazed-looking Michele Bachmann is not exactly flattering. But it is an accurate portrait. The cover features Bachmann looking like, well, Bachmann. And it goes along nicely with the accompanying story title: “The Queen of Rage”.

But ever so sensitive rightbloggers – such . . . → Read More: Michele “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann makes cover of Newsweek. Wingnuts not pleased.

S&P on downgrade: “…the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.”

Just in case you didn’t get that the first time around. This is a point the Democrats (and progressive media/bloggers need to hammer) for the next few weeks. But they won’t. The right is massed with talking points blaming the left for the defeat. But the text of the S&P downgrade doesn’t specifically call out the Democratic . . . → Read More: S&P on downgrade: “…the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.”

Guardian: Canadian government lobbying Europeans to protect tar sands

Nice to see the Guardian doing the heavy lifting while our media snoozes (aka doing Harper’s bidding).

The Canadian government has been accused of an “unprecedented” lobbying effort involving 110 meetings in less than two years in Britain and Europe in a bid to derail new fuel legislation that could hit exports from its tar . . . → Read More: Guardian: Canadian government lobbying Europeans to protect tar sands

Fair and balanced Brian Lilley in CTV News segment

Ottawa Citizen reporter Glen McGregor writes about Brian Lilley’s wife and family taking centre stage on CTV in 2005 endorsing the Conservatives move to scrap the national child care program. Jane Taber’s one-sided column unleashes Dean Del Mastro on Margaret Atwood

In a column worthy of her nickname ‘Tory Taber’, the Globe writer gives all kinds of space to the Con spokesperson to insult and lie about Margaret Atwood. Only one thing missing – Margaret Atwood’s response to Mastro. Because Tabor doesn’t provide any. Another day at our Con media office. All Con all the time.

No Jonathan Kay, Mark Steyn is not a “thoughtful, mainstream thinker”

Today’s NatPo column by Jonathan Kay shows how he is as guilty as any right wing journalist in exploiting the current climate of fear and hate against the left. He is not the only one. His paper promulgates hate for the left on a ongoing basis. It unabashedly promotes the Conservative party 24/7. But today’s . . . → Read More: No Jonathan Kay, Mark Steyn is not a “thoughtful, mainstream thinker”

CNN’s Erick Erickson: “Secular leftists and Islamists are both of this world. Christians may be traveling through, but we are most definitely not of the world.”

Yep, he said that. And I must say, I agree. At least about the ‘leftists’ part. We are definitely of this earth. As for those non-leftists floating around in the ether, good luck to you! Hope you arrive at your destination in one piece. Oops, that was supposed to be . . . → Read More: CNN’s Erick Erickson: “Secular leftists and Islamists are both of this world. Why doesn’t Harper act on Canadian citizen tortured in Bahrain?

Is it because of Canada’s bilateral trade deal with Bahrain or is it that Harper doesn’t want to ‘upset an important US ally in the Persian Gulf’? Those are reasons suggested by GlobalResearch for the silence of our government over the capture and torture of Naser Al Raas, an Ottawa resident who was visited Bahrain . . . → Read More: Why doesn’t Harper act on Canadian citizen tortured in Bahrain?
