Years ago, I had a certain grudging respect for John McCain…after all, he had fought his way through debilitating torture as a POW, seemed to be a bit of what, in Canada, we used to call a Red Tory, and until the last several years, was probably the least offensive

120111frack.jpg Two recent court decisions in New York state upheld the right of towns to use zoning laws to limit or even ban fracking within their borders. The HarperCons are certainly giving the regina mom a lot of opportunity to diss them. And that would be fun! Perhaps, if we give them enough rope… I know. It’s wishful thinking, mirroring theirs, apparently. As a poster at one of the web boards I frequent said, “It’s like the
Continue readingcmkl: Fewer good jobs around so let’s eliminate more of them
That’ll make everyone feel better. A CIBC report covered today says there are fewer good jobs in Canada these days. The bank’s job quality index dropped by a per cent over the last year. Wow they have a job quality index. It’s almost like they care.

Stephen Harper waves goodbye to the jobs in London, Ontario, pictured above. That’s a nice shot. Really captures the sentiment well as an accompaniment to this article: “Tories mum on lockout at plant Harper used to tout corporate tax cuts.” He’s happy to show up for the glory and highly

Conservative-speak can be confusing for the less practice ear. I know, I know, it sounds like English, but perhaps it is just a different dialect? And it just all sounds so good; surely fixing the deficit, creating jobs, and promoting freedom and democracy is a good thing? To aid in

Great commentary from The Globe and my favourite part:
“At the same time, voters will have to decide what they make of today’s Americanized Conservatives as represented by Mr. Harper, Mr. Hudak and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford – all men who yearn for a simpler, long-vanished society that no longer represents today’s Canada.”
I for one do not want our fine country to resemble our neighbours to the south. As much as I respect and admire them and look at them as brothers and sisters I don’t want anything to do with their government or policies.
