An update on Saskboy – from Saskboy

John posted this in our Progressive Bloggers group at Facebook, so I’ve taken the liberty to cut and paste it to here:

On July 1st as I was leaving Wascana Park by bike, I had a sudden cardiac arrest. Someone nearby called 911, and police and soon an ambulance got my heart started again within about 10-15 minutes. The hospital kept me at 32 degrees for a day, and two weeks later I can’t remember more than a few things from the first 4 or 5 days after June 30th. The fallout is possible organ or brain issues, so I have appointments to check those, and in 8 years I get another ICD installed to replace the one I have now that will restart my heart if the same freak thing happens. I can’t drive for 6 months, or after I have a heart-restart, so hopefully I stay as I have the last two weeks, only getting better. I go back to work at the UofR in about 2-3 months.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and well wishes
