New affiliate: changes to how one gets accepted here

First off, please welcome the newest affiliate to Progressive Bloggers: Centre and Left

Secondly, I’m going to detail how I’ve decided to modify how one gets accepted as an affiliate here: More after the flip:

We’re going to try a little experiment here.. and I’ll see if it’s worthwhile keeping. We’ve had a panel of moderators helping me decide what applications off blogs applying to be affiliates should be accepted, rejected or put on hold for another look in the future.

Because of commitments, life and so on.. a lot of the mods aren’t able to offer me their opinion on these.. so I thought why not open up the process to the general members?  I’ve decided the best way to do that is to post the applications at the private Facebook group for a period of a few days, and let them offer me their input/recommendations (I of course would have final say, but I rarely override without a compelling reason).

Our latest member is a result of that first experiment. So, if you’d like to participate in helping decide who is an affiliate here, go to the Facebook page and keep an eye out for the applications (if you’re non a member there at Facebook, consider joining).

We’ll try a few and see how it turns out.

Criteria For Considering An Affiliate application

The general criteria I and the moderators have used, which I will post for your consideration are:

1) Do you consider what the blogger writes about to be relevant to be on Progressive Bloggers?

2) Is the blog in your view a progressive blog ? (always the one most subjective)

3) Is it active enough/post enough? (If the blog is less then a month old, it normally automatically gets put down as a “put on hold” and check back later to see if it’s still posting. This might also be the case for a blog thats been “active for 4 years”, but only posted a blog post once every 6 months).
