And another thing…

I hope the E-B’s editorial this week provides food for thought for the folks who make decisions on behalf of the community – especially when it appears on the front page of the Friday treeware edition.

I want to provide one more, which struck me as I showered this morning…

I’m sure certain councillors will rail on about how hiring a consultant to do a market sounding will just lead to the hiring of another consultant, and so on. However, we’ve just gone through the process, and I don’t know any of the councillors who would not say there wasn’t successful outcome.

The 50% ‘transfer’ of Collus to PowerStream was overseen by… a consultant – KPMG. They provided an expert assessment of the market, and assisted the committee struck to review the Requests for Proposal. And council made the ultimate decision, based on the recommendations of the committee.

It’s the same process, folks. It’s not that hard to comprehend… And, I betcha hiring KPMG cost more than $40,000 – and nobody around the council table was wailing on about Collus spending the money.
