Why you should vote for Grant Gordon, and by extension the Liberal Party of Canada

Yesterday, the picture below started making its rounds on the internet, and as was intended (I’m sure), it generated quite a lot of debate and discussion.  I posted it to my Facebook timeline, and ended up in the middle of a debate from both Conservatives and New Democrats. How very Liberal.

I’m very proud to a member of a party that has that list of accomplishments.  But what we have done in the past is less relevant than what we are doing now, and what we want to do.

So why should you vote for Grant Gordon Toronto Danforth, and by extension the Liberal Party of Canada?

The Liberals and the NDP both have an interim leader. Count the media hits for Bob Rae vs. Nicole Turmel. The NDP are in the middle of a leadership race, and Liberals are still out fund-raising them. Who do the Conservatives attack more in the house: The Liberals or the NDP? The NDP may get more questions than the Liberals during Question Period, but it is the Liberal questions that make the news.

Bob Rae and the Liberals are proving that we are more effective in the house, by any measure.

Grant Gordon is on the ground, at the doors, and in the media proving that he has what it takes to join our small yet highly effective team in Ottawa. Look at how much conversation and interest this one small picture has brought to not only Danforth, but Canada. He is proving that he has the pluck, drive and intelligence to fight Harper and his government in and out of the House.

What more could you ask from someone running for an opposition party in a by-election?

What can you expect the Liberals to fight for, both now and in the future? Legalization. National Housing Strategy. National Childcare. Getting Kelowna implemented. Putting environmental policies in place that balance the needs of the environment with the needs of the economy. Continuing the tanker ban on the BC North Coast. Implementing Preferential Balloting for federal elections. Balancing the budget with the least impact possible on average Canadians. Protecting the middle class…

I think we stand for a whole lot, really.

And if you needed another reason to vote for Grant Gordon, I think this video make the case pretty well.
