At the Alberta NDP’s Breakthrough Conference this past weekend NDYA members had the opportunity to sit down with leadership candidates Brian Topp, Nathan Cullen and Paul Dewar. All of three men were not only pleasant towards the youth at the table with them, but also towards each other – which bodes well for the three of them having to cooperate in the caucus together. I think any of these three would make a good Prime Minister.
Martin Singh and Romeo Saganash also attended the conference but were unable to attend the impromptu dinner with the youth. All of the candidates the Leader’s Levee that evening and conference attendees had the opportunity to speak to them all.
Recently announced candidate Thomas Mulcair was unable to attend the event. Nomination forms for Peggy Nash were also floating around the conference so we can likely expect an announcement from her soon. MP Niki Ashton was also in attendance and there were rumours she would be announcing her intention to seek the leadership sometime as well.
