Photo Challenge 24 – In Context

The theme this round was IN CONTEXT, which was quite a lot of fun. I’m sure that others experienced what I did. It was not a matter of shooting two pics once you had an idea, but shooting a variety of closeups and context shots and then choosing the best combo from among them. In fact, I’d say this is a good technique generally and one which was pushed during my recent “Urban Photography in Toronto” course put on by Henrys School of Imaging.

Each photographer has submitted a set of two photo’s. For those eligible to vote (entered in this or either of the two previous challenges) please pick your top three sets. Others are more than welcome (encouraged, even!) to leave comments and votes as I will use these in case of a tie and we will all appreciate the feedback in any case.

The next challenge, set by Peter Hone is URBAN ART with no editing restrictions. I hope some of you rural dwellers have plans to head to an urban area during the next two weeks. For my part, I’m in Toronto every day and have a trip to Boston coming up, so we’ll see what I can do with that. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday August 17, 2011 at 7:00 Eastern.

A couple of notes on the rules:

In the last challenge I had posted some rule changes.  Most of you (the notable exceptions being Jeannie and Lisa) paid no attention to the change in Rule #7 which I noted that most were not following in the first place.  PLEASE review this and adhere to it.  I set up a mail filter for your submissions and might miss it if you don’t, and I take no responsibility for that.  These rules are set up to save me work and not I’d grealy appreciate you helping me out in this way as it is pretty simple.

Also, I had made a change to Rule #5 regarding the resizing of pics.  After experiencing this round, I’m going to have to change back to the original of no larger than 1024 pixels on the longest side.  The reason for this is that my gallery plugin does not generate thumbnails when the photo is larger and in this case I had to do a lot of futzing around to make it all work, which is a bunch of work I’d rather not repeat.

Okay, now enjoy the pics! And remember…
