Hugh’ve got to be kidding me

Seriously Hugh.

The “leak” of your election platform is as disengenuous as the document itself.

So the polling that now has you ten points back has also showed that Manitobans are in no mood for the cuts in public services that you have been advocating for.

In response, the Team McFadyen brain trust has decided to blow their fucking brains out before the writ has even been dropped.  In 2007 Hugh waited until e-minus 17, this time he’s doing it a e-minus 36.

The kinder, gentler Team McFadyen is going to hire more nurses, cut taxes and run a deficit until 2018.  wait/what?

Yes.  You read that correctly, Team McFadyen is going to run a deficit until 2018.

Those spend-thrift New Democrats are going to eliminate the deficit by 2014, but Hugh’s going to do them one better, he’s going to run a deficit for another four years.

That’s right, the team of “fiscal responsibilty” have lost their freakin minds!

Hugh is also going to take Manitoba off of Equalization.  Not a clue where he’s going to come up with the $2 Billion to cover the  loss of Equalization, guess Hugh will just add it to the deficit.

That’ll go over well.

Does Colin Craig know about this?  Does Kelvin Goertzen approve?

Similarily Hugh is going to repair and pave the back-alleys in Winnipeg.  Just tack it on the old Master Card, eh? Having nicely paved back-alleys truly must be top-of-mind when one thinks of having a solid infrastructure.

Can’t promise to bring back the Jets because Selinger already did that, so, let’s just pave all the back-alleys.

Guess it kind of makes sense in Hugh’s world because he’s going to subsidize cottage ownership.

Yep.  Things are going so well that we all need paved back-alleys but aren’t going well enough that we can afford our cottages without a handout from the government.  Hugh’s going to provide a $700 a year handout for people who own cottages.

Well things are going well in Manitoba.  They are going well because for the past eleven years, Greg Selinger has been managing the finances and making the tough choices.  Choosing to fund services and projects that are vital to making Manitoba “the” place to be.  We have grown and become prosperous, this will only continue if we continue to make responsible choices…….which would not include paving back-alleys.

Hugh also promises to not “sell” or “privatize” Manitoba Hydro.  OK, OK, OK, we all heard that one back in 1995 when Hugh’s mentor, Gary Filmon, said that he had no plans to sell MTS.  As we all know, immediately following his win in that scandal tainted 1995 election, Filmon sold MTS.  When asked it about it later Filmon would respond that, at that time he “had no plans” to sell MTS at that point in time.  We are supposed to believe that Filmon woke up the morning after the election and decided to MTS and thus be forgiving of this “miss-understanding”

Now would Hugh be planning to pull a Filmon, ie: profess to having “no plans” to sell Hydro and then afterwards sell Hydro and claim that, “well, at that point in time I had no plans to sell Hydro”…perhaps.  However, there is another scenario.  McFadyen will sign a “Management Agreement” for 99 years with some conglomerate to operate Hydro, “on our behalf”.  Our rates would go up, the profits would go out of country, Hugh would have a nicley feathered nest, and he’d be able say that he didn’t sell Hydro, he just signed a “Management Agreement”.

On the Eastern seaboard of the US and company typically refered to as Con Ed (Consolidated Edison) that provides to their electrical needs.  Just think of it, they have Con Ed, we’d have Con Man.

Just seems to fit Mr Hugh.
