Photo Challenge 23 – Fences

I suspect that the voting will be fairly tough for Kate’s FENCES theme, as all the pics look excellent to me. Very often by the time I post I already know my first place vote, but this time I really have no idea. Excellent work, everyone!

When voting for the FENCES theme, please choose your top three pics which you think best fit the theme.

If you want to join in on the fun for the upcoming themes, review the Rules are posted in the Photo Challenge link at the top of this page, and then send me a message via email or the contact form.

Theme #24, also chosen by Kate Potter, is IN CONTEXT.

[Note to Kate, I’ve taken the liberty to rename and interpret your idea a bit. Please comment and clarify if you disagree with my interpretation.]

The idea is to submit two pictures of one subject. The first is more close up showing detail of the subject and the second to show that subject in it’s environment. Kate’s example for this in her email to me was a macro shot of a flower and then a shot of the flower within the garden. Any level of editing is allowed for this one.

Submissions will be due on Wednesday August 3, 2011 at 7:00 PM.

Note to all participants…
I’m making a change to Rule #5 regarding resizing photos for submission. In the past I had asked for a photo to be no larger than 1024 pics on the longest side. However, I have found that this is actually the wrong criteria. What I am really trying to limit is the actual file size. Therefore, when submitting your pics from here forward, any pixel size is allowed but the file size you submit must be smaller than 400 kB.

I’m also making a change to Rule #7 regarding your email submissions.  Please use the following in the subject line when you submit a photo.  “themephoto title“  For example, my entry in the gallery below would be mailed with the subject “Fences – Sunny Sunday on Front Street”.  This is a convenience thing for me as it saves me a whole bunch of flipping windows as I am editing the post and no, it does not change the fact that Rule #6 requires your file to be names with your chosen photo title.

I’ll also note that very few of you were following Rule #7 as it was originally written anyway,  which I was finding quite annoying frankly, so I’ll remind you again to read the rules and please comply with them.  Not doing so creates extra work for me which I really don’t need.  The guilty know who they are.  Apologies will be greatfully accepted.

Okay, on with the show!  Enjoy the pics and remember…

“Don’t just take pictures, make pictures!”
