McFadyen changes feet

Guess Hugh McFadyen finally woke up and realized that his strategy to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is working.

Good on you Hugh.

Today McFadyen issued his call to arms and wants the Premier to call the Legislature back into session because Hugh’s duck-and-cover strategy needs saving…..er, rather to deal with the flooding.

According to McFadyen bringing the Legislature back into session would allow MLAs to engage in an “open and transparent debate”.

Hey!  I think it’s a great idea.

Given the 12 point bounce we got from the last session, if we went back into session and let Selinger wail on McFadyen for another couple of weeks we’d win 43 seats in October.

Seriously Hugh.

The Souris river begins in Saskatchewan, meanders South through North Dakota, and snakes its way back North into Manitoba.

Due to unprecedented moisture and biblical rains, the Souris has been flooding all Spring and Summer.

In Saskatchewan they evacuated a town – and it was looted!

In North Dakota, Minot was wiped off the face of the planet.

In Manitoba? We have done our preparation and haven’t lost a town yet……well except for Ste. Agathe back in 1997.  mk?, Mr. Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff for Gary Filmon whojusthappenedtobeingovernmentatthetime………

Selinger has announced the compensation package, claims are being assessed and paid.

So what would Hugh do?

Stop the rain?  Part the clouds and make the sun shine?  Stop the water? or, perhaps just walk on it?

Now.  We know that Hugh has a personal belief that the Budget must be balanced on a year-over basis.   We also know that Hugh would make $450 Million in cuts to Health Care, Education, Policing and Community Services.

Given those planned cuts and the increased demand being placed on our resources to compensate for the flooding, who else would Hugh have to throw under the bus in order to balance the Budget, provide flood compensation, wean us off Equalization, and embark on preparing for future floods?

How could Hugh possibly accomplish this?

Sell Manitoba Hydro perhaps?
