The Case Of The Lazy Journos

It really seems like the message has been set: the new NDP MPs are young and inexperienced and as a result, we will have an official opposition full of fresh faced young punks who will be incapable of properly opposing anything. The MSM in Ottawa has done nothing but focus on this group of young MPs with distain and contempt. The hypocricy of this is, as one may guess, is that it is this same media that laments poor voter turnout and lack of yoith participation. Rather than stigmatise this group we should be praising them for their commitment to public service. The fact that we have the youngest MP ever, a nineteen year old, shows just how in touch and flourishing our democracy is. Instead of slamming them for their youth, we should kneel down and thank them for keeping our democracy alive.

My question is, why this continual line over and over again? Here’s the reason: laziness. What else is easier then reporting on fifty or so new MPs who had little expectation of being voted for, and still did what they felt was their democratic duty? Reporting on them positivly would be too difficult and would take too much work. Journos would actually have to ASK QUESTIONS. Heaven forbid.
