Why Ignatieff will have his ass handed to him on Monday

Yes, we all know that the only poll that counts is the one on election day.

However, after #elxn41 wraps it up, _if_ the results are merely in the same ballpark as the polls, then the Liberals are going to be handed ther worst defeat, EVAR!

Everyone knows this.

While there are many opinions on why this will be the case,  and I’m not going to rehash the opinions of others, a major contributing factor is the inablity of Michael Igantieff to connect on the emotional level.

I’m sitting here watching a scrum with Ignatieff on CPAC.

The reporter consults Captain Obvious and asks Ignatieff;  given he feels that his policies are the best,  if he is frustrated that the polls show his party losing ground on Monday?

Ignatieff says, no.  No he is not frustrated becuase the votes have not yet been cast, the results are not yet known, have to get every vote out, still two days left, yada, yada, yada.

Michael.

Everyone watching knows that  if they where in the same postition, they would feel frustrated.

They would say that they feel frustrated.

They would admit that they feel frustrated.

The viewers response would be emotional, not analytical and scripted.

We all know that the votes have not been cast, the results not determined, that every vote counts, etc, etc.

We all understand that you can’t wave the white flag, nor should you.

We all know that you have to still rally the troops.

However, we all know that in our hearts, the frustration would be immense and your inability to acknowledge that human trait makes you come across as either dishonest, disconnected, or both.

You can admit feeling frustrated and still rally the troops.

Denying the feeling of frustration denies the audience the opportunity of connecting with you on a personal level.

If you can’t be real, you have to at least be good at faking it.

But thank you for being neither.
