The NDP is in ascent

The Vancouver Sun: NDP official Opposition not so implausible

The NDP is gaining strength this election. I’ve maintained for some time Layton is the craftiest politician in Ottawa, and as the federal NDP party leader, he’s set tall goals for the party to reach, all of which to our delight we’ve easily cleared.
He’s to the right of me, so I won’t agree with him on every proposal, but I can support his work in Ottawa.
Honestly, I’m excited by the latest polling. I can’t merely wish the NDP to continue its success in polling and reaching Canadians for this election. I want to shout it out for all to hear: the NDP is your best choice for our government!
With such numbers, an NDP-Liberal coalition is absolutely possible. At the least, should the Liberals balk at a coalition, the NDP would hold the Conservative’s fate in hand, with a proven record of voting down the government when its policies are simply too odious.
What’s amusing, too, is with the prospect of a stronger NDP role in the government, political ‘experts’ are calling on the NDP to move to the right, when in all honesty, it’s been the NDP’s current position which has given the party such life this election. Act more like Liberals? Excuse me, but people are considering alternatives to the Liberals precisely because they’re the Liberals.
Anyhow, the numbers should give us all heart and hope for the next eleven days. We, the NDP, can yet do even more for Canadians.
