Picture ID, and the coming election

I don’t have picture ID! Anyone have any extra bucks they can donate to help me get a BC ID? It’s thirty-five dollars.
I make no bones about it. I’m broke. I’m poor. I’ve got no income. I might have a part-time job in a few weeks, or maybe not if they require picture ID. I might lose out on a job opportunity this coming Friday, because I don’t have picture ID.
I want to vote in the coming election, but what are the requirements? Do I need picture ID? I don’t know. I’m worried. (Actually, just checked the Elections Canada website. I can get by with my Care Card and a piece of mail, thank goodness.)
Today, I was frantically trying to get in touch with the worker at my band office who issues Status Cards, and guess what? I need picture ID to get picture ID! I was directed toward BC Services, which issues BC ID, but it costs thirty-five dollars!
If I was working, thirty-five dollars would only sting the pocket a little, but since I’m currently not working, and not on Social Assistance or EI, I’ve got absolutely no income, and thirty-five dollars seems an almost insurmountable hurdle.
I hate being poor. Seriously! I just hate this helplessness.
Even more, I hate that there’s people who can make a buck off poor bastards like me. I’m treated like trash, and the people who get rich off people like me are treated as pillars of the community.
I guess I’ll work the phones a little, and try to have an aunty or uncle help me out, here.
But if you do have a buck or two to spare….
