The problem with communication …

is the illusion that it has been accomplished.

George Bernard Shaw

It seems that in order to live in this world communication has become one of the most important things. We get bombarded with information…and it seems that in order to stay current we must not let ourselves be out of the loop for any second of the day. We twitter, we email, we text, we phone, and if we have any time we might even chat over a coffee…or if you are like Michael and me chat over coffee and email each other! But it is getting harder and harder to understand just what is being said because now we have a whole new language…and not only language but little faces 🙁 means sad 🙂 this means happy… but most of the time I am just thinking there has been some funny punctuation. The world has become smaller, we buy stuff made somewhere exotic, we seek medical help where the money has more bang for your buck and the wait for treatment is non existent as long as you have the cash. For those of us who don’t have the cash to go somewhere tropical to get healed we might have to just head on down the road to our local Dr. of Chinese Medicine and get some Ancient Chinese Medicine to help the Chi flow…now being a person who likes to see just what is going in the old precious temple of aches and pains I read the insert that is included in the box…

(Action & indication) To nourish and replenish kidney yang. Used for shortage of kidney yang, body of general ederma and coldness, the piss is not fluence or opposite, diates mellitus.(Dosage) for oral adminstration, 8 pills once, 3 times daily.

And even though I am still not completely sure just what they are good for or how many and how often to take them I feel confident that I will feel better soon.In our quest for new and exotic we have fallen in love with ethnic restaurants, we are curious about the religions that don’t have a guy on a cross but maybe instead a bunch of colourful flags flying and bald headed guys in orange dresses who chant and meditate. In this international world the students young and old travel far and wide to learn somewhere else…and back in the day when I had the Asian girls homestay I found that even though we seem to be getting on the bandwagon learning about each other and their culture some things just don’t seem to permeate down to real understanding. All those little itty bitty Asian girls loved nothing more than to wear itty bitty T shirts that had a bunch of English words that made no sense at all…One example had me totally confused and I had to ask just what it meant…for a minute or two I thought it was just my concussion playing tricks on me…

Laugh GentryDistance Sense Now I feel better with itIt is not too much to say longingBegin to playHide and seek

But apparently they didn’t know what it meant either or maybe it meant nothing it was just cool because it was english…now maybe there are a whole lot of Asians shaking their head in wonder wondering what the hell those crazy white people are doing wearing clothing and jewelry with Asian symbols that are inappropriate or just nonsensical?Sometimes the powers that be think we just better forget the words because there are just too many people with different languages and we just don’t have that much room so they use pictograms to communicate instead of words or part pictogram part words like a sign on one of the BC Ferries…Now this could just be me…but I am still confused…does this mean if someone gets shocked only stop a crew member? Or only crews can stop electrical shocks? Perhaps a better sign would have been…Yes it seems that now more than ever getting our message through loud and clear to the people we want it to whether they are young or old, of the same ethnicity, rich or poor, no matter what their education level is or how high their technology level is more important than ever…our economies depend on it, our safety depends on it, our health depends on it…it is only when we understand each other that we can make friendships, we can work towards mutual goals and we can even hope to have peace…so I have to ask just what the hell did we do to get George Bush?
