Making the system work? Yeah, right!

The following is an editorial from the Ottawa Sun about a week or two ago.

MAKING THE SYSTEM WORK
Prisoners incarcerated for crimes against society think they
have “rights” The right to have needles for injecting drugs; and
paid for by taxpayers? Criminals are in prison for rehabilitation, not to
continue doing what got them there in the first place. They are there to
reflect on where they went wrong and learn how to set themselves on a path of
reintegration into a moral, law-abiding society. They are not there to do
drugs until paroled, to take up where they left off. Prisoners have the “right”
to shut up, do their time constructively by utilizing programs taxpayers have so
graciously allocated to them. Then they can have the “right” to thank us for
caring enough to get them back on the “right” path. How about the government
do something about eradicating all drugs getting into prisons. That’s the
only way the system will work as intended.

C. Peter Davis, Winnipeg

So let’s all have a good laugh at how retarded Mr. Davis is. Does he really believe that you can forcibly stop people from doing drugs, not to mention bringing them into prisons? How does he suggest we enforce this — MRI scans for all incoming prisoners? Like that would be cost-effective, not to mention another breach of these “rights” he seems to have no regard for. People who think the answer to their rights being ‘threatened’ is to take away the rights of others make me sick.
