SEEKING INSPIRATION FROM STUPIDITY

So I guess Kelly McParland at the good old National Post thinks that a Thinker’s Conference is stupid. He also suggests, wrongly, that the conference will be “a big meeting to figure out what [the Liberal Party] believes in…”Meanwhile, in the world where people actually read things before we comment on them, we can see that the Thinker’s Conference is not simply about the Liberal Party, but is rather an open gathering for Canadians of any or no political persuasion to address broader questions of policy and good governance, including:1. What kind of country will we be – and can we be?;2. How can we ensure that – in a rapidly changing global economy – we have the industries and jobs we need?;3. How can we ensure that social safety net that Canadians need and want is strong and secure? ;4. How can we narrow the growing gap between the wealthiest few and all the rest of us?; and,5. What kind of careers, what kind of lives can our kids expect?I guess Mr. McParland fails to comprehend the notion that many Canadians might actually want a responsible government that seeks inspiration from the people it aspires to govern, rather than one that insults our intelligence and treats us with contempt.
